چکیده مقاله |
Noise pollution, which has emerged as a significant environmental concern due to industrial expansion and urbanization, has attracted substantial attention in both academic and industrial research since the 1970s. Efforts have focused on various methods of mitigating its adverse effects. This study introduces the development of a flexible polyurethane-based foam designed for sound insulation and absorption. The foam was synthesized using 35 wt.% MDI and a carefully selected polyol composition. Its porous and tortuous structure, characterized by open cells and viscoelastic shells, was key to its superior acoustic performance. A single-layer PU foam, 10 mm thick, was fabricated and then sandwiched between two 5 mm thick commercial PU layers, secured with a backup adhesive. The acoustic performance of both the single-layer and three-layer hybrid insulators was systematically evaluated using an impedance tube simulator, with sound transmission loss measured across a wide frequency range to assess the effectiveness of the foam structure in sound insulation. |
